Drodzy Przyjaciele misji!
Pierwszy raz po wielu latach otworzyłem teczkę, w której przechowuję otrzymane w ciągu pobytu w Kazachstanie dekrety – nominacje. One przypominają mi miejsca, ludzi, sytuacje, gdzie mogłem pracować dzięki Waszej modlitewnej i materialnej pomocy.
Pierwszym miejscem gdzie rozpocząłem posługę była parafia św. Józefa w Makińsku. Od 08.09.1995 r. miałem radość być obok świętych sióstr zakonnych i wspaniałych parafian, którzy w czasie prześladowań nie tylko wybudowali kościół, ale stworzyli piękną i żywą wspólnotę ludzi wierzących.
Są tam do dnia dzisiejszego ślady obecności łaski Bożej, wyproszonej przez Was oraz ślady materialne, jako owoce Waszych ofiar: nagłośnienie, piece do ogrzewania, instrumenty muzyczne, wiele bielizny kielichowej, paramenty liturgiczne łącznie z kielichami i ornatami, które dopełniły to, co już tam było zgromadzone dotąd. Nieoceniona pomoc kapłanów rodaków, rodzinnej parafii i diecezji.
Kolejne miejsce gdzie byliśmy razem to Szczucińsk. Miasto u podnóża gór, ze starym modlitewnym domem i tęsknota za nowym – z dużej litery – Kościołem parafialnym (od kilku lat to marzenie się spełniło). Remont staraj kaplicy, przygotowanie do budowy kościoła planowanego wcześniej na działce obok domu dla rekolekcji, dostosowanie kupionego domu dla potrzeb domu rekolekcyjnego „Fides et Ratio”, pocztówki drukowane w Krośnie, ornaty ze Starej Wsi, paramenty dla godnego sprawowania Mszy św. Wiele drobiazgów, jako gesty życzliwości proboszcza z Dydnia – śp. ks. Adama Drewniaka. Wsparcie z Domu Spokojnej Starości z Dynowa (dzięki zatroskaniu p. Teresy). Bóg przypominał przez Waszą troskę, że troszczy się o nas i o Kościół w Kazachstanie. Dawał potrzebne łaski i siły.
7 sierpnia 1999 r. pożegnaliśmy się z biskupem Lengą, który przeszedł na emeryturę. Nastąpił terytorialny podział w Kościele w Kazachstanie, a ja zostałem na terenie obecnej archidiecezji astanińskiej.
Kolejna wspólna stacja to obecna stolica: Nursułtan, wtedy jeszcze Astana. Parafia zakochana w Swojej Patronce – Maryi Nieustannej Pomocy. Posługę rozpocząłem tam 19 marca 2001 roku, a więc w dzień św. Józefa. Rozpoczął się piękny etap przygotowań do wizyty Jana Pawła II. Owoce tej pielgrzymki są obecne do dzisiaj; ktoś rozpoczął życie sakramentalne, ktoś inny wrócił do wiary swoich przodków.
Także i tutaj są obecne ślady „Waszej obecności”: witraż w ścianie głównej, chrzcielnica z Rzeszowa, konfesjonały z Korczyny. To wszystko przypomina mi, że jesteście ze mną poprzez modlitwę i konkretną pomoc materialną. Uroku dodaje fakt, że w tych czasach, wiele przedmiotów przywoziliśmy droga lądowa: pociągiem czy samochodem. Dzisiaj miło patrzeć na rozkład lotów i widzieć połączenia do Polski polskim LOT-em.
W 2011 roku nagła przerwa spowodowana chorobą i wyjazd do Ojczyzny na leczenie. Ale i tam, poprzez swoją modlitwę i wsparcie byliście ze mną.
Po roku, po zakończonym leczeniu powrót do Kazachstanu poprzez nowennę za wstawiennictwem bł. ks. Bukowińskiego, aby znalazł miejsce dla dalszej mojej – „naszej” służby. Odpowiedź przychodzi szybko i jest nieoczekiwana: pojawia się konieczność posługi, jako wychowawcy, a później rektora w Seminarium Duchownym w Karagandzie. I tam Wasze modlitewne wsparcie w szczególny sposób pomagało mi w codziennym towarzyszeniu na drodze rozpoznania powołania i formacji u młodych kandydatów. A fizycznie o Waszej duchowej łączności i ofiarności do dzisiaj przypominają witraże św. Patronów w oknach kaplicy seminaryjnej, dowiezione do Kazachstanu mimo wielu trudności. I ponownie pani Teresa. Jej bliscy i znajomi ufundowali figurę Wychowawcy – czyli św. Józefa, która obok figury Matki Bożej jest obecna w kaplicy seminaryjnej.
Wspominam tylko niektóre chwile czy miejsca. W każdym z nim są obecnie różni ludzie, choć łączy ich jedno – zawsze ofiarni i kochający misje.
Kolejny etap naszej wspólnej drogi to od 2017 roku posługa rzecznika prasowego Konferencji Episkopatu Kazachstanu, organizacja „od zera” Biura i Centrum Medialnego.
Pomieszczenia na to dzieło wydzieliła i pomogła częściowo w remoncie diecezja astanińska. Zakup sprzętu, organizacji pracy, znalezienie ludzi profesjonalnie oddanych dla dzieła, to już jak zawsze Wasza nieoceniona pomoc: modlitwa, ofiarność kolegów z kursu oraz ich parafian i wielu moich przyjaciół, tak z Kazachstanu jak i z całego świata.
Decyzja o utworzeniu Centrum okazała się opatrznościowa. Przychodzi pandemia, a my jesteśmy gotowi do transmisji Mszy św., katechez on-line, konferencji, itd. Ponad 200 tysięcy ludzi może czytać, oglądać, słuchać – w tej nieprostej sytuacji, dzięki takiej formie posługi, mogą oni umacniać się w wierze.
Od września 2021 r. zakres naszych obowiązków powiększyła się z racji utworzenia nowych struktur konferencji biskupów, która obejmuje od tego czasu nie tylko Kazachstan, ale i inne kraje Azji Centralnej.
Proszę o dalsze towarzyszenie mojej posłudze, tak duchowe i materialne. Bez Waszej pomocy ciężko było by wypełniać zadania, które stawia przede Bóg, a prawdopodobnie było by to w ogóle niemożliwe. Napisałem jednak tych kilka słów, aby przede wszystkim podziękować wszystkim, którzy w jakikolwiek sposób wspierali dotąd moją posługę w mojej drugiej Ojczyźnie – Kazachstanie. Zmarłym niech Bóg da łaskę życia wiecznego a żywym błogosławi.

Liebe Freunde der Mission! 
Zum ersten Mal nach vielen Jahren habe ich die Mappe geöffnet, in der ich die Erlasse aufbewahre – Termine, die ich während meines Aufenthalts in Kasachstan erhalten habe. Sie erinnern mich an Orte, Menschen und Situationen, an denen ich dank Ihrer betenden und materiellen Hilfe arbeiten konnte.
Der erste Ort, an dem ich meinen Dienst antrat, war die Pfarrei St. Joseph in Makinsk. Seit dem 08.09.1995 hatte ich die Freude, neben heiligen Nonnen und wunderbaren Gemeindemitgliedern zu sein, die während der Verfolgungen nicht nur eine Kirche gebaut, sondern auch eine schöne und lebendige Gemeinschaft von Gläubigen geschaffen haben.
Bis heute gibt es Spuren der Gegenwart der von Ihnen erbetenen Gnade Gottes und materielle Spuren als Früchte Ihrer Opfer: Beschallungsanlage, Heizöfen, Musikinstrumente, viele Kelchleinen, liturgische Utensilien wie Kelche und Messgewänder, die das Vorhandene vervollständigten. Unschätzbare Hilfe von den Priestern unserer Landsleute, der Heimatgemeinde und der Diözese.
Der nächste Ort, an dem wir gemeinsam waren, war Szczucińsk. Eine Stadt am Fuße der Berge, mit einem alten Bethaus und der Sehnsucht nach einer neuen – groß geschriebenen – Pfarrkirche (vor einigen Jahren ist dieser Traum in Erfüllung gegangen). Die Renovierung der alten Kapelle, die Vorbereitung für den Bau einer bereits geplanten Kirche auf dem Grundstück neben dem Exerzitienhaus, die Anpassung des gekauften Hauses an die Bedürfnisse des Exerzitienhauses „Fides et Ratio”, in Krosno gedruckte Postkarten, Messgewänder aus Stara Wieś, Utensilien für eine würdige Feier der Heiligen Messe, viele kleine Dinge als Geste der Freundlichkeit des Pfarrers aus Dydno – des verstorbenen P. Adam Drewniak. Unterstützung durch das Altenheim von Dynow (Dank an Frau Teresa). Gott hat uns durch Ihre Fürsorge daran erinnert, dass er für uns und für die Kirche in Kasachstan sorgt. Er gab die notwendigen Gnaden und die Kraft.
Am 7. August 1999 haben wir uns vom Bischof Lenga verabschiedet, der in den Ruhestand ging. Es gab eine territoriale Teilung der Kirche in Kasachstan, und ich blieb im Gebiet der heutigen Erzdiözese Astana.
Die nächste gemeinsame Station war die heutige Hauptstadt: Nursultan, damals noch Astana. Eine Pfarrei, die ihre Schutzpatronin, Maria von der Immerwährenden Hilfe, liebt. Ich begann meinen Dienst dort am 19. März 2001, also am St. Josephstag. Es war der Beginn einer schönen Phase der Vorbereitung auf den Besuch von Johannes Paul II. Die Früchte dieser Pilgerreise sind auch heute noch präsent Einige haben das sakramentale Leben aufgenommen, andere sind zum Glauben ihrer Vorfahren zurückgekehrt.
Spuren deiner Gegenwart” sind auch hier zu finden: ein Buntglasfenster in der Hauptwand, ein Taufbecken aus Rzeszów, Beichtstühle aus Korczyna. All dies erinnert mich daran, dass Sie mir durch Gebet und konkrete materielle Hilfe zur Seite stehen. Die Tatsache, dass wir damals viele Dinge auf dem Landweg, mit dem Zug oder mit dem Auto transportiert haben, macht den Reiz aus. Heute ist es schön, einen Blick auf den Flugplan zu werfen und Verbindungen nach Polen über die polnische fluggesellschaft LOT zu sehen.
2011 hatte ich eine plötzliche krankheitsbedingte Pause und ging zur Behandlung in mein Heimatland. Aber auch dort waren Sie durch Ihre Gebete und Ihre Unterstützung bei mir.
Ein Jahr später, nach Abschluss meiner Behandlung, kehrte ich durch eine Novene auf die Fürsprache des seligen Pater Bukovinsky nach Kasachstan zurück, damit er einen Platz für meinen – „unseren” – Dienst finden konnte. Die Antwort kam schnell und unerwartet: Es war notwendig, als Erzieher und später als Rektor am Theologischen Seminar in Karaganda zu arbeiten. Dort hat mir Ihre betende Unterstützung in besonderer Weise geholfen, die jungen Kandidaten auf ihrem täglichen Weg der Berufungsfindung und -ausbildung zu begleiten. Und physisch erinnern mich die Glasfenster unserer Schutzheiligen in den Fenstern der Seminarkapelle, die trotz vieler Schwierigkeiten nach Kasachstan gebracht wurden, immer noch an Ihre geistige Verbundenheit und Großzügigkeit. Und wieder Frau Teresa. Ihre Verwandten und Freunde stifteten die Statue des Erziehers, d.h. des Heiligen Josef, die sich neben der Statue der Muttergottes in der Kapelle des Seminars befindet.
Ich erwähne nur einige Momente oder Orte. In jedem von ihnen stecken jetzt andere Menschen, obwohl sie eines gemeinsam haben – sie sind immer aufopferungsvoll und lieben die Missionen.
Die nächste Etappe unseres gemeinsamen Weges ist seit 2017 der Dienst des Pressesprechers der Bischofskonferenz von Kasachstan, die Organisation des Büros und des Medienzentrums „von Grund auf”.
Die Räumlichkeiten für diese Arbeit wurden von der Diözese Astani zur Verfügung gestellt und teilweise mit renoviert. Die Anschaffung der Ausrüstung, die Organisation der Arbeit, die Suche nach Fachleuten, die sich der Arbeit widmen, waren wie immer Ihre unschätzbare Hilfe: Gebete, die Großzügigkeit der Kurskollegen und ihrer Gemeindemitglieder und vieler meiner Freunde, sowohl aus Kasachstan als auch aus der ganzen Welt.
Die Entscheidung, das Zentrum zu gründen, erwies sich als glückliche Fügung. Eine Pandemie kommt, und wir sind bereit, die Messe, Online-Katechesen, Konferenzen usw. zu übertragen. Mehr als 200.000 Menschen können lesen, zusehen, zuhören – in dieser unbequemen Situation können sie durch diese Form des Dienstes in ihrem Glauben gestärkt werden.
Ab September 2021 hat sich unser Aufgabenbereich durch die Schaffung neuer Strukturen der Bischofskonferenz erweitert, die von nun an nicht nur Kasachstan, sondern auch andere Länder Zentralasiens umfassen.
Bitte begleiten Sie meinen Dienst auch weiterhin, sowohl geistlich als auch materiell. Ohne Ihre Hilfe wäre es schwierig, wenn nicht gar unmöglich, die Aufgaben zu erfüllen, die Gott mir gestellt hat. Ich habe diese wenigen Worte jedoch vor allem geschrieben, um all denen zu danken, die meinen Dienst in meiner zweiten Heimat Kasachstan in irgendeiner Weise unterstützt haben. Möge Gott den Verstorbenen die Gnade des ewigen Lebens schenken und die Lebenden segnen.

Dear Friends of the Mission! 
For the first time after many years, I have opened the folder in which I keep the decrees – appointments received during my stay in Kazakhstan. They remind me of people situations and places where I could work thanks to your prayerful and material help.
The first place where I started my ministry was St. Joseph’s parish in Makinsk. Since September 8, 1995, I had the joy of being next to holy nuns and wonderful parishioners, who during the persecution not only built the church but also created a beautiful and lively community of believers.
There are still traces of the presence of God’s grace and material evidence of your sacrifices: sound system, heating stoves, musical instruments, many chalice linens, liturgical paraments including chalices and chasubles, which completed what was already there. Invaluable help from priests of our compatriots, home parish and diocese.
Another place where we were together was Szczucińsk. A town at the foot of the mountains, with an old prayer house and a longing for a new parish church (after several years the dream has come true). The renovation of the old chapel; preparation for the construction of the church, planned earlier on the plot of land next to the house for retreats; an adaptation of the house we bought for the needs of the retreat house „Fides et Ratio”; postcards printed in Krosno; chasubles from Stara Wieś; paraphernalia for a dignified celebration of the Holy Mass; many small things, as gestures of the kindness of the parish priest from Dydnia – the late Fr. Adam Drewniak; support from the Nursing House in Dynów (thanks to Mrs Teresa). Through your care, God reminded us that He cares about us and the Church in Kazakhstan. He gave the necessary graces and strength.
On August 7, 1999, we said goodbye to bishop Lenga who retired. There was a territorial division in the Church in Kazakhstan, and I stayed in the present Archdiocese of Astana.
Another common stop was the present capital: Nursultan, then still Astana. It is a parish in love with its patroness, Mary of Perpetual Help. I began my ministry there on March 19, 2001, that is, on St. Joseph’s Day. It was the beginning of a beautiful stage of preparation for the visit of John Paul II. The fruits of that pilgrimage are still present today: some have begun sacramental life, some have returned to the faith of their ancestors.
There are traces of „your presence”, including the stained glass window on the main wall; the baptismal font from Rzeszów; the confessionals from Korczyna. All this reminds me that you are with me through prayer and concrete material help. The fact that in those days, we used to bring many things by land, by train or by car, adds to the charm. Today, it is nice to look at the flight schedule and see connections to Poland via Polish LOT.
In 2011 I had a sudden break due to illness and went to my homeland for treatment. But even there, through your prayers and support, you were with me.
A year later, after the end of my treatment, I returned to Kazakhstan through a novena through the intercession of Blessed Father Bukowiński, so that he could find a place for my – „our” – service. The answer came quickly and unexpectedly: it was necessary to serve as an educator and later as a rector at the Theological Seminary in Karaganda. Your prayerful support helped me to accompany the young candidates in their daily way of vocation discernment and formation. The stained glass windows of St. Patrons in the seminary chapel, brought to Kazakhstan despite many difficulties, still, remind me of your spiritual connection and generosity. And again, Mrs Teresa. Her relatives and friends funded the statue of St. Joseph, the Educator located in the seminary chapel next to the statue of Our Lady.
I mention only some moments or places. There are now different people, although they have something in common – they are sacrificial and love missions.
The next stage of our journey is, since 2017, the ministry of the press officer of the Episcopal Conference of Kazakhstan, organizing the Office and Media Center „from scratch”.
The Diocese of Astana set aside the premises and helped in the renovation. The purchase of the equipment, organizing the work, finding people dedicated to their work. All that was possible thanks to your invaluable help: prayer, the generosity of my colleagues from the course and their parishioners and many of my friends, both from Kazakhstan and around the world.
The decision to establish the Center proved to be providential. The pandemic comes, and we are ready to broadcast Mass, online catechesis, conferences, etc. More than 200,000 people can read, watch, listen – in this uncomfortable situation. They can strengthen their faith through this form of ministry.
Since September 2021, the scope of our responsibilities has expanded due to the creation of new structures for the bishops’ conference, not only in Kazakhstan but also in other countries of Central Asia.
Please continue to accompany my ministry, both spiritually and materially. Without your help, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to fulfil the tasks God has set before me. I am writing these few words to thank everyone who has supported my ministry in my second homeland, Kazakhstan. May God give the grace of eternal life to the deceased and bless the living.
